Whole Black cardamom pods are used in savory Indian and Middle Eastern recipes. Cardamom is used in its ground form in both Middle Eastern and Scandinavian baked goods. Since cardamom loses its flavor quickly once ground, it is often preferable to buy the long-storing whole pods and grind only the amount needed for a recipe. While cardamom is indigenous to India, today much of it is commercially grown in Central America. Our cardamom comes to us from Tamil Nadu in India, which produces the world’s best cardamom.
